1. NERC's Marine Facilities Planning programme is planned on the basis of the financial year i.e. 1st April to 31st March. This Profile must have completed the Confirm Funding stage by the 1st April in order for it to be considered for inclusion in the following years programme. Submissions after the deadline date will be carried forward to the subsequent year, unless they can be satisfied on an opportunistic basis.

2. This form is NOT an application for funding, which must be applied for or obtained separately. The NERC policy for the allocation of 'superstructure' costs to grant proposals can be found in the guidance notes. Please check the NERC deadlines for SME submission dates at the applying for marine facilities page.

3. All applications for access to NERC's marine facilities must be submitted electronically via this web site. As the Profile progresses the Principal Investigator will be notified of the progress by automatically generated email alerts.

NERC's Marine Facilities Planning programme is planned on the basis of the financial year i.e. 1st April to 31st March, therefore the year 2010/11 will run from the 1st April 2010 to the 31st March 2011.

If a project has a number of cruises which use different equipment on the cruise - separate applications must be made for each of the cruises. If a project has a number of cruises which all use the same equipment a single (multi-profile) application can be made. See the Marine Facilities Planning Guide - Multi-Profile for details. In addition to research ships, NMF-SS technicians and NMEP equipment, NERC provides a range of facilities to support environmental research (see 'NERC Services & Facilities' website - here - for further information) and NERC has access to a number of marine facilities via the barter arrangements with IFREMER (France), BMBF (Germany) & NSF (USA) (see the NERC marine planning website for more information).
